Please join us for this Special Educator’s Private View of Rachel Maclean’s commission for JUPITER+ PERTH on Wednesday 9 November from 4pm to 6pm.
JUPITER+ PERTH is a new programme of public artworks led by Jupiter Artland. One of the most influential artists of her generation, Rachel Maclean is the first artist in this programme, with a remarkable artwork that takes the form of a seemingly abandoned, candy-coloured toyshop on Perth High Street. Above the shop, JUPITER+ PERTH have transformed the formerly vacant building into Green Screen & Learning Studios. Inspired by Rachel Maclean’s practice, which works across film, animation, sculpture, print, costume and set design, the aim of our Free Learning Programme is to support teachers, provide inclusive access to arts education, and to inspire the next generation of artists in Scotland.
The afternoon will begin with a curator-led tour of Rachel Maclean’s artwork on Perth High Street, followed by a tour of the JUPITER+ Perth Green Screen & Learning Studios. We’ll invite you to join a discuss on reflecting on your own teaching practice and how exploring different, and ambitious, forms of contemporary art can inspire meaningful learning back in the classroom. You will even have a chance to try out your skills in our broadcast studio!
This is a wonderful chance for educators to experience a site-specific installation by one of Scotland’s most celebrated artists, and to consider the breath of career options available to your students. We also want you, as teachers and educators, to join us in our mission to champion the importance of art, design, creative and expressive subjects within our curriculum.
It’s also a chance to meet the JUPITER+ Perth Learning Team, hear more about our Free Learning Programme, what it can offer you and your students, and to book a FREE Learning Visit to JUPITER+PERTH and Rachel Maclean.
