STOP THE QUARRY EXTENSION!
Dear Reader,
Jupiter is always aware of its surroundings and its relationship to the natural world. We have become aware that our neighbours are concerned about the doubling of size of Ratho Quarry. Breedon, the aggregate giant, has applied for an extension to cross the full field up by the grain silo at the end of Bonnington Village, and this will impact our neighbours dramatically; there will be dust, tremors and huge lorries roaring up and down on an the already challenged Newbridge Road.
The Council have stated they would like this area to become a “recreational triangle” with the EICC climbing centre, the World Class under-construction wave park and Jupiter Artland pivoting the points. The STOP THE QUARRY GROUP EXTENSION group believe the plans run counter to the Councils strategy, will change the character of the landscape forever and increase heavy industry in rural west Edinburgh.
To help our neighbours and to honour the same seam of rock that Andy Goldsworthy’s Stone House has been built upon we are organising a workshop to make protest posters and placards to help amplify the voice of the community. If anybody would like to come along to the workshop please sign up below. The workshop is free and it will help the voice of a community in the face of very large business.
