Working alongside the Park and Grounds Maintenance Team to create a safe, well cares for and beautiful setting for the world lass art in the parkland. Jupiter Artland is a Five Star Visitor Attraction, specialising in contemporary art, learning and nature. The post-holder will learn valuable skills in maintaining the parkland with its many different areas. This role is well-suited for someone looking to start a career in horticulture, gardening, estate and countryside management.
Amongst the team are graduates from The Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, Oatridge college and several members are attending courses for the RHS and studying modules for countryside management.
Each kickstart placement will be assigned a work mentor from within Jupiter’s Senior Management Team. The work mentor will undertake initial induction and support placement through their journey at Jupiter, ensuring placements keep a daily learning log and attend meeting, tracking timekeeping, attendance and performance. Provide feedback and identifying opportunities for learning and training.
Learning log – Daily tracking of activities and tasks will be undertaken. Reviewed bi-weekly with mentor.
In-house training will be provided for all aspects of gardening, including the use of hand tools, lawnmowers and strimmers, basic plant identification, propagation, pruning and planting.
Onsite training will be given to support and increase skills in being organised, on time, well presented and see any task through, from planning to successful completion.

To support the team and work alongside them to maintain the grounds. Work in a safe and courteous manner and understand the importance of tasks carried out to the highest level.
Some of the regular tasks carried out are:
– Lawn maintenance and strimming
– Painting of fences, sheds and buildings
– Drainage and path maintenance work
– Sowing seeds and taking cuttings
– Hedge cutting and pruning
– Preparing firewood for winter
– Installing and maintaining irrigation
– Maintenance of ort work, including cleaning, waxing and polishing
