A Cosmic Reset
Laura Aldridge, A Cosmic Reset, 2024. Glazed stoneware, gold leaf, hardwood (Oak, Cherry, Beech), varnish, paint, two-part epoxy, water pump, fountainhead, stainless steel.
We are absolutely delighted to announce the acquisition of Laura Aldridge’s work A Cosmic Reset. Laura’s beautiful fountain was part of her 2024 commission for Jupiter, LAWNMOWER. We couldn’t be happier to have this work installed permanently in the Ballroom Garden.
A Cosmic Reset is a fountain constructed from enormous spiralling shells. It references the snail as one of many organisms that comprise the diverse ecosystem of the Artland. The work uses the sonorous drip and gush of water as a material, alongside Aldridge’s stacked sculptural forms and painterly glazes.
Laura Aldridge (b.1978) lives in Glasgow and works in Paisley, Scotland. She is a founding member of the Sculpture House Collective, Ferguslie Park, Paisley. Vibrant and tactile, her work engages, indeed embraces, all our senses. Taking many forms and scales, her work derives from her deep-seated instinct for colour and texture, and from the knowing and intuitive approach she takes to making, materials and their possibilities.
Visit us to see Laura’s sculpture as the garden comes to life throughout the seasons.
