Tessa Lynch, Houses Fit For People, 2014

Lifted from the title image for an 1980’s BBC documentary on the architecture of social housing, Lynch appropriates the slogan-like graphic to promote the ideas championed within her performance Raising, which has been developed for Jupiter Artland.

Raising invites participants to build a house like structure in a day, the communal and democratic manner in which it is to be done will ensure that houses really can fit people.

The Artist’s use of vinyl for the edition comes from the idea of publicly promoting an idea, akin to a bumper sticker or badge, seeking attention and reaction.
