Baldock’s 2025 commission for Jupiter Artland takes the title WYRD, an Old Norse word that not only means strange or different, but signals an exceptional otherness that is tied to destiny, fate and transformation. Sacha Coward is the author of Queer as Folklore, a bestselling investigation of the queer history of mythic and folkloric characters, old and new. Their conversation will set the theme for the evening’s programme, examining the wyrd in relation to queer lives, loves, histories and folklore, and reflect on how we might seek symbolism and solace through wyrd, fey and magical creatures.
