Jupiter+ ORBIT London Trip
October 31st – Nov 2nd 2025
A weekend of Art, Movement & Connection

Leo – “ – This trip has made me feel better in myself and my ability to work and talk with people, plus my feelings about this trip can be described in one word, euphoric”
Orbit Youth Collective 2025/6
Twelve Orbiteers from Jupiter + Dundee took part in this year’s Orbit trip to London, ready for a weekend of exploration, inspiration, and creative exchange.
Our journey began at Tate Modern, filled with music and performances by NATIVE Records, before settling in for the night under the shadow of St Paul’s Cathedral. The next morning started with an unforgettable visit to Florence Peake’s studio. We stepped into a world of plaster casts, sculpture, and critical conversations. Florence spoke honestly and generously about the importance of creating and sustaining artistic communities, reminding us that artmaking is never a solitary act.
We spoke about the importance collaboration, loss and the realities of being an artist (especially all the admin). The morning set the tone for the whole trip: curious, open, and connected.

Florence Peake, Tai Shani, Candice Lin and Gilbert & George

Camile (Orbiteer) – “I really loved visiting Florence Peake’s studio. I thought it was very interesting to see a real art studio and to hear the thought process behind her work. I think she has a very unique style and has given me some more insight and inspiration for working with sculpture.”
Rocco (Orbiteer) – “I found it inspiring and Interesting speaking to Florence Peake and getting a closer insight to the working method/methods and thought processes established artists go through when creating pieces of art and installations.”

Before heading to Whitechapel Gallery, we visited Freedom Bookshop, an Anarchist Bookshop, highlighting that not all artwork takes place in the form of a gallery before winding round Candice Lin’s exhibition. A powerful installation that was both childlike and unsettling. Using humble materials like cardboard, Lin transformed simplicity into something alchemical, menacing, and tender all at once.
Tai Shani introduced us to her mesmerising installation “Cardinal” at Gathering Gallery. We were captivated by her ability and artwork being unapologetically herself. Our conversation with Tai was honest and inspiring speaking about what it means to make work that truly matters.
Ryan – “I loved listening to Tai Shani talking about how you don’t need to create art for a specific reason, and you don’t need to justify why you have chosen to create the art that you did. She showed us that we have so much freedom to create whatever we feel like creating”
