Age 15+) Art, a practice of healing and reflection, underpins the theme of Jupiter + Dumfries’ dynamic new program. Inspired by award-winning artist Lindsey Mendick’s work Growing Pains—commissioned specifically for Jupiter + Dumfries’ —this new site-specific installation explores the uncertainty, awkwardness, and social expectations of adolescence. The collection, which includes ceramic sculptures, stained glass, office furniture, and a film set, is displayed in a former estate agent’s office in the Loreburn Centre. The program responds to Mendick’s themes through a diverse mix of art forms, including collage, film, spoken word, and sculpture, aiming to empower participants with the skills to develop their artistic voices and engage in creative activism. At its core, the initiative is designed to cultivate change and action, highlighting the importance of healing through art and the power of creative agency. The dynamic space welcomes school and community groups, offering opportunities to play, reflect, and collaborate through various media. This inclusive environment fosters growth, connection, and the value of creative practices for social change. We invite schools, community groups, professional artists, and arts organisations to join our program. Each session is tailored to meet the specific needs of your group. Enjoy practical development, reflective practice, and critical discussion—all free at our pop-up space in the Loreburn Centre. In addition to the main program, we warmly invite you to explore our CPD opportunities for teachers and recent graduates, join our creative drop-ins, or utilise our space for hosting talks, events, or workshops.
