Join us to celebrate the opening of our Jupiter+ Dundee residents event and exhibition. Ecologies of Practice showcases work by Original Copy Collective, Leyla Hussain & Sara Oussaiden which has been developed and completed during their residency at 7 Castle St.

The event is both a celebration and a reflection of their time on the residency, highlighting the relationships, artwork, conversations and artist-led activity that has emerged from the Castle Street space over the past 6 months.

This event is free to attend and open to the public.

About the artists

Original Copy Collective

Original Copy (OC) is a Dundee-based, not for profit, artist-led collective working across temporary and non-traditional spaces in the city. Founded by artists Laurie McInally and Dana Leslie, with designer Lauren Bloor, OC supports early-career practitioners through accessible exhibitions, collaborative projects and community-focused events. Operating in temporary and pop-up spaces, OC explores how temporary models can create flexible, supportive platforms for creative risk-taking while responding directly to Dundee’s shifting creative ecology.

Leyla Hussain

Leyla Hussain (b. 2003) is a Dundonian-Pakistani artist who works sculpturally, regardless of material, plane or axis. Hussain’s practice currently relies heavily upon charcoal and graphite on weathered paper. During her Jupiter+ Legacy residency, she examines the tension between ornamentation and material erosion amidst scrolls of paper and visions of devotion.

Sara Oussaiden

Sara Oussaiden is an artist, writer and community-engaged practitioner based between Dundee and the Isle of Skye. Working across mediums, her work explores themes of ecology, memory and interspecies connection through her practice of art-as-research and research-as-art.

Throughout her time on residency Oussaiden has been developing an ongoing body of research into corvid behaviours, intelligence and human coexistence. Working directly from field notes, audio recordings and photography, she has been translating research into narratives that explore what we can learn from these creatures which are, in many ways, shadows of ourselves.
