Inspired by the work of SgĂ ire Wood, this workshop explores the intersection of drag aesthetics and textile repair. Learn how to mend, reconstruct, and embellish damaged, torn, or worn garments. Transforming them into expressive new pieces. We will have a rail of clothes to work with but encourage you to bring your own items to repair and personalise.Â
Drawing on heraldic symbolism, pop-culture iconography, and unexpected patternmaking, the session encourages experimentation, personal storytelling, and creative rule-breaking. You are invited to bring clothing in need of repair and reimagine it through a process of visible mending, redesign, and self-expression.
Exclusively for this workshop, Clothes Hospital facilitators Ella and Esther have created a patch to personalise your own items, allowing you to treasure a small part of the exhibition in your clothing. Bar open on the night, for purchasing alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks. Â

About
Clothes Hospital is a mending workshop set up in a sewing circle context led by two artists Esther Stone and Ella Woodcock with textile practices, The Clothes Hospital provides a space and guidance to fix all those broken or ill-fitting clothes we don’t wear.
Giving participants a chance to meet new people or rally friends to sit and chat and fix what you bring. Ella aids in anything that needs hefty sewing machine fixing and Esther will aid in garments that need hand sewing from cute patches to cover those tears to decorative stitches to highlight them. Clothes Hospital is a celebration of the act of repair using skill sharing as an excuse to create a space to exhibit fixed pieces and engage with those who want to do more.
With Ella and Esther regularly sporting their patched up wears, Clothes Hospitals aim is to be functional and helpful whilst insighting joy about learning new skills and approaches. Within a colourfully decorated cosy environment with good tunes.
